Reconnecting with nature, together.
Based just outside Lincoln, Wild in the Woods CIC was created by founder Laura out of a deep-rooted passion for reconnecting children and adults with the natural world.
Our mission is simple: to provide enriching, engaging outdoor experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love for nature.
We believe in the power of the wild — and the freedom it brings.
In a world where children spend less time outdoors than prison inmates and fewer than a quarter can identify a badger, our sessions are a vital response to a growing disconnect from nature. As mental health challenges rise among both young people and adults, time spent outdoors has never been more important — for wellbeing, creativity, and connection.
At Wild in the Woods, we offer a range of immersive, nature-led sessions that allow children (and adults!) to explore, play, and learn in a relaxed, supportive environment. Whether it’s cooking on an open fire, building dens, making bird feeders, or dissecting owl pellets, every experience is designed to deepen understanding and spark joy.
Our sessions include:
Fire cooking and seasonal nature crafts
Bushcraft skills: fire lighting, knife work, den building, charcoal making
Themed learning linked to the curriculum: habitats, ecosystems, Stone Age life, rocks and fossils, and more
Pond dipping, minibeast hunts, and wildlife discovery
Team games, problem-solving, and imaginative free play
Opportunities for quiet reflection, reading, art, and investigation inside our large tipi
We also offer bespoke programs for schools and groups, tailored to meet specific curriculum needs or learning objectives — available as one-off sessions or as part of a longer series.
Whether you’re here for a weekly family session, a one-off workshop, or a custom school visit, we invite you to come as you are, step outside, and rediscover the magic of the natural world.
At Wild in the Woods, we’re not just teaching skills — we’re nurturing future naturalists, adventurers, and caretakers of the earth. Let’s grow wild, together.
Meet the Team
Laura Stewart founded Wild in the Woods CIC in 2020 and wanted to create a space for her own children to connect with nature. It quickly evolved to the wonderful nurturing place it has become, supporting adults and children alike to reclaim their connection with the wild.
