SCHOOL VISITS
at Wild in the Woods
Set within woodland surroundings, our outdoor school visits provide rich, experiential learning through campfire activities, forest exploration and nature-based play, supporting curiosity, wellbeing and a deeper connection to the natural world.
“Wild in the Woods have provided a nurturing site in the outdoors which has enabled our children to shine beyond the school setting by allowing time, space and opportunity for them to just be. Our children have embraced the wet, the mud and the cold throughout the winter months and had their curiosity and imaginations ignited by the pure awe and wonder of nature which Wild in the Woods provides through the bespoke sessions they offer. It is a truly enriching and rewarding connection with nature which has developed confidence, teamwork, language skills, friendships and a sense of children being able to be themselves in a uniquely fulfilling environment.”
Our school visits can be themed around a topic you are currently exploring in class, or we can suggest ideas to complement your curriculum.
Mornings are structured as a carousel of activities, with children working in small groups and rotating through our different woodland areas. In the afternoon, we invite schools to place supporting adults within each area, allowing children to independently choose which spaces they would like to revisit based on what they enjoyed most in the morning. This approach encourages autonomy, deeper engagement and child-led learning.
Children will also have the opportunity to take part in a supervised fire-lighting taster session, using flint and steel to ignite cotton wool.
Morning activity areas may include:
Campfire cooking
Bushcraft or nature-based activities linked to your current theme
Pond dipping or feeding the fish in the lake
Child-led play and exploration on Adventure Island
Child-led play and exploration around the ground-level treehouse
Investigative and creative play in our tipi, including a cabinet of curiosities, nature table, books, games and art materials

“We know that the impact of wider strategies for children is often much harder to measure but there is no doubt to us that our children are flourishing and thriving at Wild in the Woods and we appreciate that the true impact of this will be realised over and over again as they return to the classroom and move on through their education journey to become conscientious, caring and confident individuals.’ ‘When our shyer children are moved into an outdoor, unique, enticing and enabling environment, they flourish and change into different children who freely show others what to do and communicate to their peers about what we are exploring each day. ”
